A young policeman was slightly injured when he was hit by a car while directing traffic late yesterday.

The incident happened at about 11.15 p.m. at Ghajn Tuffieha Road, St Paul's Bay, as the policeman and a colleague were directing traffic after the Fireworks Festival display at Golden Bay.

The officer was hit by a speeding Daewoo Racer being driven by a 26-year-old man from Mgarr. 

The policeman was treated is hospital and discharged. The driver is expected to be arraigned today.
