The 15 members of the police force who were called to an incident on January 8 in Valletta acted correctly in apprehending the individual in question, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela told Parliament yesterday.

He was answering a question by Opposition MP Claudette Buttigieg, who claimed the policemen were involved “in an an abusive and excessive use of force”.

Mr Abela said the Police Corps Internal Affairs Section investigated the case. It interrogated seven of the officers and three members of the public who were present. “From the investigations carried out, it ensued that the police officials acted correctly in the line of duty,” he said.
