Two 25-year-old men were arrested after they were allegedly found in possession of a large bag containing various items that had been reported stolen by tourists earlier in the day, the police said.

The men - one from Ta' Xbiex and the other from Gżira - were arrested by officers who were on patrol in Pembroke on Saturday, during the Duran Duran concert at the nearby Luxol Grounds.

The police said the officers noticed the two men under a tree in the area and this made them suspicious. The officers approached the men and apprehended both, even though one of them tried to escape.

Near where the men were, the police said they found a big bag containing a number of items including digital cameras, a mobile phone, an MP3 player, a wrist watch and sunglasses. The items had been reported missing by tourists earlier in the day.

The police also found a screw driver near the bag. On searching the two men, the police said they found another two screw drivers and a number of mobile phone Sim cards.

Police investigations continue.
