Police roadblocks in St Paul’s Bay and Bugibba netted 50 drivers found breaching regulations last night.
The police said 98 vehicles were stopped for the checks.
The most common contraventions included drivers and passengers not wearing a safety belt and vehicles having tinted windows without the necessary permits.
The police also stopped a vehicle having a young child seated on the front passenger seat and another driver who was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The police reported yesterday how on Saturday-Sunday night they stopped 117 drivers, of whom 43 were fined or will face court action, for breaching driving regulations.
The police said the drivers were stopped in road blocks in in St Julian's and Swieqi.
Breaches of traffic regulations included, driving under the influence of alcohol, dangerous and negligent driving and vehicles not covered by an insurance policy.
