The Police Association has filed a judicial protest calling on the government to pay police officers for extra hours worked during the Valletta Summit and CHOGM in November last year.

The association said its efforts to secure payment had been ignored.

It said some officers had put in as many as 150 extra hours. This should not be considered as ‘disturbance’ as these officers were detailed and obliged to carry out this work.

If the document which regulated police work was unfair this should be corrected, and this abuse should stop, the association added.

The association also called for talks for a collective agreement.
