Fires outside a cafe' at Paola and a restaurant in Valletta last night are being investigated by the police.

The first blaze was reported at 12.45 a.m. when the fire alarm at Main Street shopping complex in De Paule Square went off. Smoke was seen coming from a cafe' bar in the complex, which was closed at the time. The fire was put out by fire-fighters from the Civil Protection Department.

Some two hours later, the the door of a restaurant in Marxamxett Road, Valletta, was reported to be on fire. The door, a canopy, as well as some tables and chairs were damaged. The fire was put out by the police.
