Last Saturday I was near the site of a hit-and-run car crash in St Andrews. The St Julians police arrived after only a few minutes and they were led by an able and experienced Sergeant Joseph Pace. In a few minutes the accident details were organised and the sketch done.
I soon learned that the hit-and-run driver was traced a short time later and he admitted to his misdemeanour. As I saw the whole incident developing before my eyes, I was impressed by how the police controlled the situation in perfect efficiency, having thought that this only happened in films.
The St Julians police are to be thanked for all this. It takes requiring their help for one to find out that they are able to provide it promptly.
Maybe it is also time that whoever is involved in their station's postponed refurbishment hurry up a bit. Also I cannot omit the staff at Mater Dei emergency on this same day. In less than an hour, the accident victim was thoroughly examined twice by two different doctors, x-rays were then taken and different tests made as to possible internal injuries.
This day was maybe unfortunate for the accident victim, but fortunate enough in the way maximum help and attention were provided by the police and the hospital staff.
Well done!
