A former Swedish police chief and expert in equality and sexual harassment cases was jailed today for rape.

Goran Lindberg was convicted of more than a dozen sex offences, including buying sexual favours.

The 64-year-old former police commissioner denied all charges aside from a few cases of buying sex.

Lindberg was police chief in Uppsala from 1997 to 2006 and also headed Sweden's national police academy.

Lindberg is known in Sweden for his lectures on gender equality and sexual harassment.
