Hundreds of motorcyclists this morning joined the police charity bike ride, roaring their way from the police garage in Floriana to Ghadira Bay.

Such was their number that while some motorcyclists were still driving out from the police garage atPortes des Bombes towards the war memorial and Valletta, others were already driving past Portes des Bombes in the other direction.

The event, in aid of l-istrina, started with a blessing by the Police chaplain at the police garage and a send-off by police commissioner Peter Paul Zammit.

The bikers included Brigadier Jeffrey Curmi, the new AFM commander.

The event raised €3,000.

Earlier this week funds were also raised for charity in a concert held in Valletta by the police band.
