Three police officers were promoted to assistant commissioners and seven to superintendents yesterday.

The new assistant commissioners are Bartholomeo Mula, Antoine Casha and Pierre Calleja.

Dominic Micallef, Stephen Gatt, Silvio Valletta, Paul Vassallo, Paul Caruana, Alexander Zarb and Josef Petroni are the new superintendents.

Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici said when presenting the officers with their appointment that policemen had the duty to enforce the law and ensure justice because both were crucial tools for law and order to be maintained.
