The Maltese Poets Association commemorated Gorg Pisani with a soirée at St John's Bastion, Victoria.

The programme included messages and readings from the poet's literary works including L-Ghid taz-Zghozija, which gained Pisani the title of 'Poet of Youth'. The programme also included musical excerpts by Hilary Spiteri and Joe Engerer.

Recalling an exhibition held earlier this year to mark the first centenary of the birth of Pisani, Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono said the various manuscripts, correspondence and photographs on show demonstrated the principles and values that Pisani held in his efforts to promote education as well as the appreciation of Gozo's historical and natural heritage.

Association president Alfred Massa said the monthly soirées held in various localities in Malta and Gozo were targeted to instil a love for poetry.
