The Nationalist Party has welcomed the fact that justice has been made with former prison warder Anthony Mifsud.

The party noted that justice came long years after Mr Mifsud, who had been blamed for the escape of two prisoners, had been beaten up and tortured at the police headquarters in June 1982, when the country was run by a Labour government.

The PN said Mr Mifsud was the victim of a frame-up by senior police officers at a time when the police force and the government worked hand in hand.

It said the Labour Party again included senior officials and MPs who in the 1980s, when democracy in Malta was threatened, formed part of the Labour government and held important positions within the party.the victim of a frame-up by senior police officers at a time when the police force and the government worked hand in hand.
