The Nationalist Party has welcomed the official inauguration of the Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre.

It said the centre, along with the National Cancer Plan 2011-2015, were at the heart of the former government's work in that sector.

The PN government's vision had also included breast and colon screening. The former government had also, between 2010 and 2013, introduced 11 new cancer medicines.

The PN said it could not understand why the migration from Boffa Hospital to the new facility took nine months when the migration from St Luke's to Mater Dei Hospital took two weeks. It also regretted that workers from various sectors were not invited for yesterday's inauguration.
