Am expert group to deliver a clear updated snapshot of Maltese society which would also throw light on the realities of the south is to be set up in the next few days, PN leader Simon Busuttil said this afternoon.

Dr Busuttil was addressing the first meeting of the Nationalist Party’s Committee for the South, which was held in Parliament.

The committee is made up of the party’s MPs from the south, is action based and will be implementing the party’s strategy for the area.

It is chaired by Stephen Spiteri and its members are Mario Galea, Carm Mifsud Bonnici, Jason Azzopardi and Tony Bezzina.

Dr Busuttil said that the election results showed that the PN had a deficit in the south. This could be seen from the fact that the PL’s majority in the southern district was much larger than its majority on a national level.

Dr Busuttil said that the PN had a strong social policy and the perception which led to people having social problems relating more to the PL had to be addressed.
