The PN said today it is fielding 185 candidates for the elections in half of the local councils in Malta and Gozo on April 11.

Almost half, 88, are new candidates, a factor which the PN said showed how its renewal process was bearing fruit.

42% of the candidates are under 40 years old and a quarter are women.

The PN pointed out that it was thanks to Simon Busuttil's insistence that the elections would be held as scheduled as the prime minister had already decided to postpone them.

The PN said that over the coming weeks its candidates would be calling on people at their homes.
