The Nationalist Party, striving to solve its financial woes, has slashed its Independence Day celebrations spending by over 65 per cent.

The party will be covering most of its expenses through sponsorships and barter agreements.

Asked why the party had not shelved its celebrations in light of its financial situation, a party spokesman said the festivities had been downsized considerably and the party aimed to raise funds from this year’s events. 

“Our objective is to use the Independence activities as a platform for generating much-needed funds for the party,” he said.
