Former PN leadership contender Chris Said has urged the party to put off the elections for the president of the General Council and the members of the executive.

Voting is due to take place this Saturday and on November 4.

Dr Said said in a Facebook post that in such grave times for the country, the PN needed to be sensitive and it should not, it too, adopt a business as usual attitude.

It made no sense at this time for the 1,500 members of the party’s general council to be bombarded with phone calls, letters, emails and SMSs by contestants, he said.

The PN earlier this week accused the government and PBS of adopted a business as usual attitude within days of the killing of blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Dr Said also criticised the prime minister for heading off for Dubai to promote the sale of Maltese passports. This, was either gross insensitivity or he was bound by a contract, he said.
