Justice Minister Chris Said has denied receiving any gifts from rogue oil dealer George Farrugia but would not vouch for other members of Cabinet as he could not speak on their behalf.

Asked specifically to guarantee that neither he or any other Cabinet member ever received any gifts from Mr Farrugia, Dr Said was categorical in stating that he had never received any.

He told Labour’s One News journalist that there were questions to be answered on the involvement of Labour’s financial controller, Joe Cordina, as a director of the company implicated in the oil commissions scandal.

Dr Said was addressing a press conference on jobs, saying that just like the Nationalist government had created 20,000 jobs in the past five years and in the midst of the financial crisis, it was targeting to create another 25,000 in the next five years.

He spoke about the reduction in income tax levels and the promise to reduce the maximum tax rate from 35 to 25 per cent over the next three years.
