The Nationalist Party yesterday heaped praise on outgoing Acting President George Hyzler yesterday, describing him as an exemplary person.

Dr Hyzler, 83, a former minister, withdrew from the role after 10 years of service.

In a statement, the PN said Dr Hyzler had served the prestigious role with a sense of humility as well as dedication to his country, just as he served as an MP, minister and doctor.

Dr Hyzler was hailed as an honest, motivated and responsible man who always remained close to the people.

The PN also congratulated his successor, former Speaker Anton Tabone.

"There is no doubt that the good name that Dr Hyzler gave to this role will continue to be strengthened by Dr Tabone, who served each role he occupied with dedication and love to his country," the PN added.
