The Nationalist Party in a reaction to fuel price cuts announced this morning, said the prime minister had promised the country major news and then had only announced a marginal reduction of the price of some fuels, something normally announced in a press release.
Dr Muscat had reduced prices which he had himself had raised. The price of petrol was raised only a month ago, the party observed. Similarly, the price of gas was raised in December, and now reduced because of the approaching European Parliament elections.
Muscat was a throwback to other Labour governments who made a fuss when they reduced the price of tuna. But this was not the way how the people should be treated. They deserved better.
The PN also noted that the price of diesel had not been touched, meaning that industry, businesses and the self-employed who used diesel for their cars and equipment had not benefited from Dr Muscat’s good news.
