PN deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami called on the Prime Minister to give full details and the date of when Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi took ownership of a company in Panama.

Commenting on the Prime Minister’s declarations that he did not have any problem with Dr Mizzi’s interests in a Panama company, Dr Fenech Adami challenged Dr Muscat for full disclosure on this “secret” company.

“We are asking the Prime Minister to state when Dr Mizzi took ownership of a company in the tax haven of Panama. He may not have a problem with this but the electorate might,” Dr Fenech Adami said.

Dr Fenech Adami gave a list of all the multi-million government deals led by Dr Mizzi in the past three years.

These included the sale of the former BWSC power station and a 33 per cent stake in Enemalta, the new power station for which the government was shouldering a guarantee of €360 million and buying energy for 18 years and the concession to a Chinese company of vast areas of Maltese territory (the size of 45 football grounds) to Shanghai Electric.

Dr Fenech Adami said Dr Mizzi was also involved in the procurement of fuel from the Azerbaijani state company Socar and the multi-million privatisation of the health service, including the Gozo Hospital and St Lukes.

He said that Konrad Mizzi, together with the Prime Minister and his Chief of Staff Keith Schembri also visited Azerbaijan “in secret” while deals on fuel procurement with Socar were ongoing.

Dr Fenech Adami said that following the latest revelations about Dr Mizzi people were reaching their own conclusions.

In a reaction, the Labour Party noted that Dr Fenech Adami had refused to repeat publicly claims made in parliament yesterday by Simon Busuttil about Dr Mizzi.

Dr Busuttil had chosen to send Dr Fenech Adami for the press conference and had not himself repeated his comments without parliamentary privilege, it said.
