PN leader Simon Busuttil this evening admitted that there were instances when the Nationalist Party had been wrong and he apologised for mistakes the party made along the years.

Speaking during an interview on RTK’s programme Newsbook, Dr Busuttil said he wanted the truth about oil procurement to come out.

He asked why while seven people had been arrested in connection with the case under the Nationalist government, not one person was arraigned under the Labour government.

Dr Busuttil invited Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to shoulder political responsibility for the mistakes he made since last March.

Commenting on what Finance Minister Edward Scicluna said last week in the European Parliament about the amendments to the Citizenship Act, which would enable people to buy Maltese citizenship, Dr Busuttil said Prof. Scicluna’s statement that there was a lack of talented people in Malta was highly damaging.

He also said that an agreement on the amendments to the act was still far from being reached as there had been no meetings between the government and the Opposition since November 29.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat had also been invited for the programme but he had to cancel to go to South Africa for Nelson Mandela’s memorial.
