The Labour Party criticised what it described as a series of attacks by the Nationalist Party on respected important institutions in the country.

In a statement it said that attacks on the National Audit Office were evident during the Public Accounts Committee hearing on oil procurement and another attack on the Police Board followed today.

It said it was clear that when it had its back to the wall, the Nationalist Party attacked everyone including the institutions that were there to ensure transparency and accountability.

Nationalist Governments had attacked reports by the Auditor General and the Ombudsman instead of trying to rectify the situation, including in the case of the Voice of the Mediterranean and the BWSC power station.

This Government was, on the contrary, implementing recommendations to strengthen governance and transparency.

It was clear that the Nationalist Party had not changed, the PL said.
