The Nationalist Party has reiterated it was and always would be against abortion.
The party pointed out that, even though a member of its youth section had different personal views, this did not mean that its position had changed.
It issued a statement after pro-life group Gift of Life requested “an urgent and clear reaffirmation of the pro-life values of the Nationalist Party” after Jamie Vella, an executive member of the PN’s youth section, said abortion should be available to those who need it.
The Nationalist Party said Mr Vella had made it clear it was his own personal view and he understood that the party’s position was different to his.
It was not going to punish any members about their own personal views on the matter, the party added.
