The Nationalist Party’s College of Councillors has expressed solidarity with Local Council Association vice-president Samuel Azzopardi who during the first session of the mayors’ meeting currently being held in Gozo refused to preside the meeting saying he was not consulted on the agenda.

Mr Azzopardi said the meeting should discuss themes of an urgent and important nature such as next year’s financial allocation and measures to strengthen councils.

It was instead discussing matters of no importance to the residents’ quality of life, he said.

Together with the PN’s other elected members of the executive - Graziella Galea and Peter Bonello - Mr Azzopardi took a seat among the other mayors, instead of with the other members of the executive.
