The 18 elected members of the executive committee of the Nationalist Party were announced yesterday after a meeting of the general council on Friday night.

Among those elected is Rosette Thake who is believed to be a leading contender to succeed Chris Said as PN general secretary. The general secretary is elected from among the members of the executive.

The elected members are: Ann Fenech, Rosette Thake, Graziella Galea, Amanda Abela, Caroline Galea, Evelyn Vella Brincat, Veronica Perici Calascione, Francesca Zammit, Stefania Pirotta, Jean-Pierre Debono, Alex Perici Calascione, Karol Aquilina, Trevor Degiorgio, Hermann Schiavone, Mark Anthony Sammut, Kevin Mizzi, Marco Spiteri and Alexis Callus.

Paula Mifsud Bonnici was confirmed as president of the general council during Friday’s vote. Nominations for the post of general secretary, assistant general secretary, treasurer, international secretary, president of the administrative council and president of the executive committee will be accepted until Thursday. The elections for these posts will take place on June 3.
