The Labour party said today that a PN statement criticising the government for having continued to use heavy fuel oil at the power station showed how that party should not be taken seriously.
The PL said the government was on track to build a new gas-fired power station and reduce electricity bills.
It said the former Nationalist government had had plenty of time to stick to its own decision to build a gas-firing power station, but instead it built a power station extension using heavy fuel oil. It had also changed the legal environmental thresholds.
Therefore, to now criticise the Labour government for continuing to use heavy fuel oil until the new gas plant was completed was sheer political hypocrisy, the PL said.
