The Nationalist Party criticised Prime Minister Joseph Muscat yesterday for finding the money to travel to Belgrade to follow Malta’s historic participation in the European Waterpolo Championships while ignoring its three proposals related to the tournament.

The PN had suggested the possibility of training players on a full-time basis and called on the national broadcaster to buy the rights to screen Malta’s matches live and for special arrangements to enable Maltese fans to visit Belgrade to support the team.

PN spokesman David Agius said the players were not given the facility to train full-time and had to apply for leave to train. No matches would be screened on TVM, and few supporters would accompany the team to Serbia.

However, last night it was announced that the Malta-France match would in fact be broadcast live on TVM2 at 4.45pm.

The government said Dr Muscat will hold talks with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, also attending Malta’s first waterpolo match against France.

It added that in Montenegro, Dr Muscat will be holding talks with President Filip Vujanovic and Prime Minister Milo Dukanovic.
