The Nationalist Party this afternoon expressed concern over the high number of transfers of policemen, saying that 54 transfers were issued just today.
Since March, 251 transfers have been made, the party said, adding that it was clear that most of the transfers were vindictive and not related to the needs of the Force.
The transfers issued today had continued to deplete police stations, with the consequent risks to security and public order, party spokesman Jason Azzopardi said.
He also condemned the disbandment of the Special Assignment Group, saying this was also a vindictive act made out of pique.
The SAG is to be merged with the Mobile Squad to form a rapid intervention unit.
