Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has discussed the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting with the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Kamalesh Sharma.

The two are in New York for the General Assembly.

Mr Sharma said he was optimistic that CHOGM, which will be held in Malta in November, would be important for discussion on areas such climate change, migration, extremism and international trade.

Dr Muscat said this was an ideal opportunity for debate between the leaders of many countries representing regions across the world. Malta, he said, was looking forward to making its contribution, particularly on climate change.
