The Prime Minister on Wednesday disclosed the top salaries and allowances of the chairman, directors, assistant directors and management of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (Mepa).
Answering a parliamentary question by Labour MP Anġlu Farrugia, he laid the details on the table of the House.
The chairman receives €93,387.06 in basic pay and €512.46 in statutory bonus besides unlimited home telephone expenses, a fully-expensed car, a hospital health scheme for himself, spouse and dependants, and home internet.
A director receives €41,088.06 in basic pay, €512.46 in statutory bonus, a general expense allowance of €4,658.81, a maximum home telephone allowance of €465.87, a car allowance of €6,988.15, a hospital health scheme for himself, spouse and dependants, and home internet, for a total of €46,725.10.
An assistant director receives €34,714.81 in basic pay, €512.46 in statutory bonus, a general expense allowance of €2,329.34, a disturbance allowance of €2,329.34, a maximum home telephone allowance of €465.87, a car allowance of €5,357.56 or a car, a hospital health scheme for himself, spouse and dependants, and home internet.
The lowest and highest of the five grades of management personnel receive €26,699.28 and €29,634.29 in basic pay respectively, €512.46 in statutory bonus, a general expense allowance of €1,211.27, a maximum home telephone allowance of €512.46, a car allowance of €3,028.19 or a car, and a clinic health scheme for themselves, spouses and dependants.
Besides, all five grades of management, assistant director and director receive a performance bonus of up to 15 per cent of their basic pay; a disturbance allowance of one per cent of their monthly basic pay for hours worked in excess of 20 hours over and above the normal monthly hours; 1.333 per cent of their monthly basic pay for hours worked in excess of 35 hours over and above the normal monthly hours; and the payment of one professional membership per annum (including the chairman).
All five management grades receive a qualification allowance if in possession of qualifications exceeding the requirements of the position.
All management grades up to and including the chairman receive a discretionary mobile phone allowance up to €815.28 per annum.
