The murder that took place in Libya was to be condemned in the most clear way, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said.

He said he hoped this would not cast shadows on the progress of Libya in its path towards democracy.

He expressed solidarity towards US authorities and victims families.

Dr Gonzi was speaking during a conference on lessons learnt during the Libya crisis.

It brings together members of the public service who contributed during the crisis.

The US government is investigating whether the attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi in which America's ambassador Chris Stevens was gunned down was a planned terrorist strike to mark the anniversary of the September 11 2001 attacks.
