The 2002 summer mixed competitions at the Royal Malta Golf Club started recently with the popular Playmobil Tournament.

Helga Ellul and Playmobil have organised this competition for the past two years now.

Entry fees are traditionally donated to the club's Junior Section which now has about 30 aspiring golfers.

This year, 64 players took part in the three-day competition. These were divided into eight teams. On the third day, the winning pair in each team took part in an elimination play-off.

Eight golfers and their partners played alternate shots on the first hole. Of these only four pairs continued to the next hole. A further cut and only two pairs entered the final stage of the competition - Paul Gray and Paul Zammit Cutajar against mother and son, Maureen and Nick Borg. In the end the latter proved too strong for their opponents.

The presentation of prizes and reception were also organised by the Playmobil Team.
