Playmobil, the international toymaker, has announced an overall growth of seven per cent for 2010, consolidating its place as Germany’s second largest toy seller.

The company has also expanded its market share in a number of other locations.

Group managing director Andrea Schauer attributed the positive results to new products launched last year and to a strategic decision to target year-round sales. Market research institute Npggroup Deutschland GmbH lists 10 Playmobil products in the top 50 ranking toys sold in Germany last year.

Playmobil Malta marketing manager Anna Agius described the results as “excellent”, saying the Malta plant was “proud to be part of this success story”.
