The President's Council within the Malta Basketball Association (MBA) have issued a statement to thank all the entities and individuals who congratulated the MBA for the gold medal success of their women's team during the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE), held in Malta in the first week of this month.

The President's Council singled out the sterling contribution of the coaching staff, led by Santino Coppa and Carlo Farrugia, as well as Bruno Dipietrontonio who was the scout of the team.

"A big thank you must also go to our clubs who helped throughout the season by letting the players train regularly for this important appointment. Without their help, it would have been impossible to prepare seriously for such an event," the statement said.

The 'golden girls' who led Malta to an unprecedented gold medal in the GSSE received special praise from the MBA's President's Council.

"We all appreciate your personal efforts and dedication before and during this tournament. We are sure that you will continue to work hard to achieve good results at international fora, mainly FIBA competitions," the statement concluded.
