An Italian credit card manufacturer is expected to set up a production line in Gozo within three months, employing 56 workers in its first intake.

The announcement was made by Finance Minister Tonio Fenech during a party activity yesterday morning.

He said a contract was signed last week between the Italian company, Bryvarc, and Malta Enterprise.

The company, which is a subsidiary to a Swiss group, specialises in the production of plastic cards ranging from high security magnetic strip cards such as credit cards or identification cards, to scratch and lottery cards.

Among its clients, the company boats major Italian telecommunications companies, a spokesman from the ministry said. No further details were given but an official announcement is expected soon.
