The Labour Party has called on the government to establish what caused a foul spell which was noticed in several localities two weeks ago.
Environment spokesman Leo Brincat said that while several theories had been made, the government should explain what actions it had taken to conclusively establish the cause.
He pointed out that it had initially been suspected that the small was caused by methyl mercaptan, while some days ago a newspaper said it could have been caused by a major consignment of fuel imported illegally.
The government, he said, had a responsibility to establish was the real cause was.
