The Labour Party has demanded an official explanation as to how some 50 voting documents for the divorce referendum have reportedly gone missing.

The documents were supposed to have been delivered in Dingli.

The party noted that this was the second case to raise concern, after a number of voting documents were found in the street in Paola (Maltapost said in this case that the documents fell from a postman's bag and their absence was immediately reported).

The PL said is was demanding an official explanation over how the distribution of documents is really taking place. It also asked if there had been other cases which had not been revealed.

The party said it was also insisting that when the long-delayed renewal of ID cards takes place, the process should not be left in the hands of a private contractor and the state should assume responsibility.
