The Labour Party’s spokesman for the environment asked the government if an investigation by the Mepa auditor on the Dwejra disaster had been initiated.

The bay was recently used for the filming of “The Game of Thrones”. Potentially damaging heavy machinery was brought in to clean up sand dispersed for shooting scenes by the production company’s subcontractors.

Leo Brincat referred to a statement by the Environment Parliamentary Secretary Mario de Marco in Parliament, that an inquiry by the Mepa auditor was to be held and asked whether it was being held on the auditor’s initiative or at the request of Mepa.

The dates, he said, could show whether the investigation had been launched in a serious manner. He also asked if Mepa was willing to publish the auditor’s report once the investigation was concluded.
