The Labour Party has approved three further candidates to contest the European Parliament elections in June.

Noel Cassar, Josianne Cutajar and Fleur Vella joined seven other candidates for a team of 10 to contest under the PL banner.

The other approved candidates in September are: Alex Agius Saliba, Felix Busuttil, Josef Caruana, Miriam Dalli, Cyrus Engerer, James Grech and Joe Sammut.

"The PL's candidates are strong and interesting because it is made up of people with different skills and backgrounds," the party said in a statement.

It added that May's elections were important because Malta needed representatives that worked in its favour and not ones that derided their country with the intention of harming the government.
