Italy World Cup winner Simone Perrotta and Chilean midfielder David Pizarro have extended their contracts at AS Roma until 2011 and 2013 respectively, the Serie A club said in statements.

The pair had been linked with Zenit St Petersburg amid media speculation that former Roma boss Luciano Spalletti will soon take over at the Russian club.

Claudio Ranieri's Roma are two points above the drop zone after Wednesday's 2-1 defeat at Udinese and club president Rosella Sensi has ordered the players to go on a team-building retreat ahead of Sunday's home game with Bologna.

Perrotta has lost his Italy squad place after his recent poor form.
