The government is to launch a pilot project on the use of tablet computers by schoolchildren, Finance Minister Edward Scicluna said in the Budget speech this evening.
He also announced that the government during this legislature is planning to build five new schools. A plan including the localities of the schools will be announced shortly.
The government would also be launching talks with the MUT on a sabbatical scheme for teachers.
STIPENDS
The minister also announced that stipends next year will rise in line with the cost of living. The increase will be of 1.9 per cent, costing the government €250,000.
Stipends will as from next year also be given to veterinary students and students who repeat a year in their course.
