Winger Martin Petrov will miss Bulgaria's friendly in Malta on Wednesday due to a knee injury, the Bulgarian Football Union said.

The Manchester City player will stay at a Barcelona clinic, where he has gone for treatment, until the end of this week and then return to Manchester to continue his recovery.

Bulgaria were scheduled to host Bolivia on Saturday in another international friendly but the South American team have cancelled the game for "economic reasons".
