Peter Busuttil will not be retained as Film Commissioner when his contract expires next year, the Home Affairs Ministry has confirmed.

“I confirm that his contract will not be renewed. The new Film Commissioner will be announced when a decision is taken,” a ministry spokesman told timesofmalta.com.

Mr Busuttil was appointed to the post by the previous Government in 2011.

The new Administration did not replace Mr Busuttil after assuming power in March but it did appoint a whole new Film Commission around him. Appointees included Beverly Cutajar, Joseph Chetcuti and Audrey Harrison.

It also named producer/director Englebert Grech as advisor to the commission.
