Jolie says newly adopted son Pax is 'very strong'
Angelina Jolie has told People magazine that her newly adopted Vietnamese son Pax Thien is a courageous boy who is "very strong" to be facing a future in a new country with a new family and language to learn.

"You can imagine what courage it takes to be in all new surroundings with new people and a new language," Ms Jolie said in an issue that hits newsstands on April 2. "He is very strong."

Ms Jolie, 31, flew to Vietnam earlier this week to adopt three-and-a-half-year-old Pax, and on Wednesday returned to the United States to be with her companion, actor Brad Pitt, with whom she is raising three other children.

The Oscar-winning actress has a five-year-old son, Maddox, and two-year-old daughter, Zahara, both of whom were adopted. She gave birth last year to daughter Shiloh, who was fathered by Mr Pitt.

"It will take (Pax) a while to realise he has a family, and that his new life is permanent and that it won't keep changing," she said. "I will stay at home to help Pax adjust to his new life."

As Ms Jolie flew back to the United States, several reports surfaced that she was paid up to $2 million by People magazine for exclusive photos of her and the newly adopted boy, but a magazine spokeswoman said the figure was false.

"We never comment on the specifics of any negotiations but that number is completely inaccurate," People's spokesman said.

Ms Jolie's representative also called the figure "not accurate" and noted any money received for the pictures goes to a non-profit foundation that disperses the funds to "a variety of charities."

Meanwhile, Ms Jolie, whose movie roles range from action hero Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider movies to a mental patient in Girl, Interrupted which won her the Oscar for supporting actress, told People she was content to stay at home and tend to her growing brood.

"I have four children now, and caring for them is the most important thing for me at the moment. I am very happy to be their mother," she said.

Madonna's H&M apparel line gets mild welcome in NYC
Madonna this week joined the parade of celebrities with their own fashion lines, but the material girl who used to shock audiences with her outrageous outfits kept to a mainstream tune. Madonna's much-anticipated clothing line, M by Madonna, went on sale at the low-priced Swedish retailer Hennes & Mauritz AB's stores around the world on Thursday.

Excited shoppers in New York, where Madonna began her career, queued up about 30 minutes before the H&M store on Manhattan's ritzy Fifth Avenue opened, in order to be among the first to see the diva's collection.

Within two hours some items, including belts and small purses, had sold out, said one sales associate.

Another hot seller was a white, double-breasted trench coat, which Madonna, who co-designed the line for the Swedish company, wears in the campaign's advertisements.

"That white, silky coat is gorgeous, I think my daughter, who is 19, would love it," said Mary Taylor, a public relations executive, who was among the curious.

But many shoppers were not as enthusiastic about the range of styles, expecting a clothing line designed by the singer, actress and author to be more adventurous.

Madonna, who has been a taste-maker for more than two decades, has shocked audiences throughout her career with daring styles that have included lacy bras and crucifixes and a Jean-Paul Gaultier-designed cone bustier.

"I was expecting the clothes to be a little more fashion-forward I have to say, because she is such an icon and I heard it was based on her own closet," said Daniela Maron, a fashion publicist combing the Fifth Ave. store's racks for a cream-coloured sequined mini dress donned by a mannequin.

That dress, one of the standout pieces in the mostly solid, monochromatic collection, sold out early, according to a sales associate.

"A lot of people came in, but as for buying, it's been half-and-half," said Juan Tinch, an H&M sales associate. "There have been a lot of purchases but also a lot of returns."

British court halts leaks of Britney rehab details
Lawyers for Britney Spears won an emergency injunction in London's High Court preventing further details appearing in the British press about the US singer's stint in a rehabilitation centre.

According to media solicitors Schillings, they are also seeking an order requiring media outlets to disclose the source of the leaks. "An emergency injunction was obtained in London's High Court... on behalf of Britney Spears to restrain the person or persons, known as 'John Doe', who has/have been leaking information about Ms Spears's time in a rehabilitation clinic from further disclosures invading her privacy," Schillings said.

Ms Spears, 25, checked into the Promises Malibu Treatment Centre on February 21 after shaving her head following weeks of erratic public behaviour that coincided with an escalating divorce battle.

The statement issued said Ms Spears intended to challenge false allegations that have already been published.

The former teen idol, a mother of two, was photographed on several occasions making her way to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings outside the rehab facility during her stay there.

Anna Nicole autopsy results to be released on Monday
The long-awaited results of an autopsy on former Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith will be made public on Monday, possibly ending the mystery of her sudden death, a Florida medical examiner's official said.

The death of the billionaire's widow at a Florida casino-hotel on February 8 triggered a bitter and highly publicised legal feud over her remains and the custody of her six-month-old daughter, Dannielynn, who might one day inherit millions.

The autopsy results were delayed by an ongoing investigation into her death by the Seminole Police Department, run by Florida's Seminole Indian tribe. Ms Smith died at a hotel on the tribe's reservation in Hollywood, Florida.

Broward County medical examiner, Joshua Perper, will reveal the cause of death at a news conference scheduled for 10.30 a.m. on Monday, an official said.

Ms Smith's body was buried in the Bahamas on March 2.

Her longtime companion and lawyer, Howard K. Stern, is listed as the father on her daughter's birth certificate.

But several other men, including Los Angeles photographer Larry Birkhead, also claim to be the father of Dannielynn. The results of a DNA swab of the child have been placed under seal by a judge in the Bahamas, pending an appeal against the DNA test by Mr Stern.
