The second edition of the scheme ‘Irrestawra Darek’ has closed for the general public after just 12 days, after all the funds were snapped up.

Last year, the edition had to close after two months instead of the three stipulated.

The scheme’s budget was increased by €2 million to €10 million, with special funds were allocated for NGOs, over 65s, and persons with disability.

All the funds allocated to the public – €7.5 million – have already been taken up, with the total value of the projects applied for amounting to over €12.8 million. Applicants will get a 70 per cent refund from the Planning Authority on these projects.

The greatest number of applications came from Sliema, with 61 applications, followed by 52 applications from Żebbuġ and 48 applications from Valletta, with a total of 803 applications.

In the case of the elderly, there has already been €600,000 worth of applications, persons with disability applied for a total of €58,000, and NGOs applied for projects worth €172,000.
