An elderly man was given a suspended jail term today after he admitted stealing €1,000 in cash from a changing room at Sliema waterpolo pitch.

The case happened on April 11.

The court heard the accused, Joseph Pisani, 68 of Cospicua, admit to stealing the cash, which belonged to a German man who lives in Malta.

CCTV footage recorded Mr Pisani entering and leaving the changing room.

Magistrate Anthony Vella sentenced the accused to two years imprisonment suspended for four years and ordered him to pay back the money,
