Recent so-called "pro-Palestine solidarity manifestations or peace marches" that took place in Valletta remind me of the ones that occurred a couple of years ago in relation to the last Lebano-Israeli military conflict.

The common denominator is the clear anti-Semitic message that oozes so shamelessly from the participants, many of whom are Islamic extremists and their Maltese radical left-wing supporters who term themselves "pacifists".

Had these people been genuinely concerned with either peace or terrorism (since they accuse Israel of using "state terrorism"), they would, with the same zeal, take to the streets every time real terrorists commit atrocities such as they did on and since 9/11 in New York, Madrid, London and more recently in Mumbai, and vehemently denounce such acts. Instead, ironically the same Hamas regime and its supporters in the Gaza strip in favour of whom these local "peace marches" are organised, are the same people that jubilantly openly celebrate every time innocent European and American people are killed en masse in a major terror attack.

Whereas free speech is a sacrosanct right, Maltese society should not show any sympathy to either bogus peace sympathisers or towards terror organisations which like Hamas are declaredly against peace with Israel under any circumstance unless this brings the destruction of the Jewish state.

People in Gaza, Malta and indeed around the globe genuinely having at heart the fate of innocent civilians in Gaza should actually organise anti-Hamas manifestations for the sooner the Hamas regime is brought down and its terrorist wing disbanded, the sooner the Israeli and Palestinian governments can return to the negotiating table and work on having the creation of a truly free and democratic Palestinian state along Israel which is after all what every decent and moderate Jew or Muslim actually wants.
