Partit Demokratiku MPs Godfrey Farrugia and Marlene Farrugia have asked Parliament’s Environment and Development committee to debate the regulation, operation and environmental monitoring of blue-fin tuna aquaculture in northern coastal waters.

They noted that a public controversy has been ongoing since January because the number of tuna pens situated in a temporary site were increased from 12 to 22 when the pre-screening application for this extension had not been approved.
