Public Broadcasting Services today denied that a gameshow set to be aired on state television was based on a stolen idea.

In a counter protest, signed by Mark Vassallo, PBS said that the only similarity between l-Ewwel Zifna, a demo tape it had been given in March 2010, and The Wedding Battle a programme that would be airing soon, was the inclusion of the concept of a wedding.

In a judicial protest on Monday, producer David Charles Bajada who had presented the demo tape of l-Ewwel Zifna, claimed that the two programmes were practically identical . He accused Rewind Productions, the house that would be producing the programme, of stealing his idea.

PBS said in their counter-protest it was pretentious of the applicant to expect PBS to be held responsible.

PBS called on the court to stop Mr Bajada making allegations about them.
